Disgusting:

Interesting short video on North Korea

Stratfor has an interesting video on North Korea:

Mediterranean Update Tuesday: Mitt in Jerusalem

"And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."  Genesis 12:3

There's been a lot of phony outrage over Mitt's visit to Jerusalem.  I want to focus on a different aspect.  Mitt's declaration that Jerusalem is "the capital of Israel" is tangible proof of America returning to God.

Isiah 24:23 says "Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before the ancients gloriously."  The United Nations says "Jerusalem must be the capital of both Israel and Palestine."  Obviously, Mitt stands much closer to the former than the latter.

I've written recently about the importance of returning to God.  While most of Mitt's speech dealt with issues of earthly geopolitics, the line about Jerusalem demonstrates a grounding in deeper truths.  Mitt clearly understands who the good guys are and the bad guys are,  he said America and Israel: "provoke the same hatreds in the same enemies of civilization."  On the other hand, Barack Obama's record (yet again) speaks for itself.  If you believe in a Higher Power than any earthly institution, well, do I even need to say it?!?

Under God: Indivisible

Yesterday, as part of Restoring Love weekend, I went to the Dallas Under God: Indivisible event.  I wanted to post the videos from the event, but they're not yet online (GBTV has the full event, for subscribers, here).  In the meantime, however, I want to share the biggest message message I took from the event.

Conservatives need to pray, and Christians need to vote; it's really that simple.

The most quoted line of scripture last night was 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will hear their land. (KJV)."  If you believe the government is out of control, and it is, then step on is to turn to God.  If we can get back on His side, then He will take care of the rest; I'm more convinced of that than I've EVER been.

After we pray, then we need to register, then we need to vote.  The voting statistics for Biblically observant Christians are pathetic.  One-third of Christians aren't registered to vote, and another third don't bother to show up at the polls.  That translates to 15 to 20 million people.  It's worth noting that the Left is already mocking these efforts, so it must terrify them.

As Glenn Beck said last night: "If these men [meaning America's Pastors, Priests, and Rabbis] come forward with the sword of righteousness, the world's leaders will pee their pants."  Amen to that.

FreePAC: Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)

"You might be an economic illiterate if you think roads cause business success and not the other way around":

Highlights:

FreePAC: Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT)

Awesome speech from Sen. Lee:

Highlights:

  • Had the Boston Tea Party been a one off event, it'd be forgotten.
  • From the Boston Tea Party (1773) to Constitutional ratification (1788) took 15 years.
  • "What's coming up this fall and in future cycles is going to make 2010 look like a Sunday picnic."

FreePAC: The Five Steps to Repeal Obamacare

Last night, Dean Clancy, spoke; for some reason, I can't find any video, but he spoke about the 5 steps to repeal Obama's Health Insurance Protection Racket.

  • Hold the House
  • Win the Senate
  • Win the White House
It's really that simple.

FreePAC: Glenn Beck's Hyperactive, Goober-tastic, Keynote Address

Glenn Beck in fine form:

FreePAC: Dana Loesch

Dana Loesch kicks the corrupt media's ass:

Highlights:

  • Today's headlines are tomorrow's history.
  • "We are the counterculture movement."
  • We'll police the government AND we'll police the media.
  • We don't need the press.
  • "We'll report on us until we force you to as well."

For the record, I also love those pink heels, and I'm not ashamed to say so!!!

FreePAC: C.L Bryant

Wow, just wow:

Here's the preview for Runaway Slave:

FreePAC: John Fund on Voter Fraud

Last night, I heard John Fund speak at FreePAC
 A few highlights:

- Not only is voter fraud a problem, but our elections systems are sloppy as well.

- In 2008, Al Franken won (and became the 60th vote for Obama's Health Insurance Protection Racket) by 312 votes; 1200 Felons voted in that election.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli on how Federal Regulation Hurts the Poor

On July 17th, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli visited the Richmond Tea Party.  He addressed how Federal Regulation, by crippling economic growth, hurts the poor the most.  It's well said:

Why I Support Mitt Romney for Commander in Chief

I've written before about how foreign policy alone is reason to vote for Mitt.

Today, Mitt spoke to the VFW convention about foreign policy.  The speech was stellar.  I hope to comment on it at length soon.

In the meantime, I strongly recommend watching the whole thing:

Update: I haven't had time to comment; but Brietbart has more here; National Review has more here and here.

Mediterranean Update Tuesday: Greece, Spain, and Internal Islamic Subversion

Mediterranean Update Tuesday kicks off this week with the IMF suspending its Greek bailout.  Spain is also looking worse.  The Chaos about which we speculated in February might be rearing its ugly head.

Cahnman's Musings will continue to monitor the economic clusterfornication in Southern Europe.  In the meantime, I want to comment on a domestic controversy that will impact U.S. policy in the region.

On June 13, five conservative members of Congress sent letters to the Inspectors General of five federal departments.  The letters, based on credible reports of Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the U.S. government during the Bush (2nd term) and Obama administrations, inquired about the efforts the government was making to get to the bottom of the controversy.

The letters were met with silence until last week, when John McCain threw a hissy fit on the floor of the United States Senate over one aspect of the controversy.  In so doing, Sen McCain called the questions "nonspecific and unsubstantiated," a claim directly contradicted by the text of the original letter.  Shortly after Sen. McCain's hissy fit, House Speaker John Bohener followed suit.

(Author's note: You can see the original letters here; this 16-page letter from Congresswoman Bachmann alone outlines the controversy)

This controversy offers a unique opportunity to set the historical record straight about communist subversion in the 1940's and 50's.  In the 1940's and 50's, the Roosevelt and Truman administrations were infested with Soviet agents; Alger Hiss being the most prominent.  Strong circumstantial evidence suggests something similar with the Muslim Brotherhood today.  We need to get to the bottom of this controversy.  No hissy fit from John McCain or John Bohener will stop us.

We voted for Michelle Bachmann in the Presidential Primary and we re-affirm our vote today.  We stand unapologetically and unconditionally with the five conservative Congressmen calling for these investigations.  We urge our readers to contact their Congressmen and support the five conservatives.

Contact Speaker John Bohener here.

Contact John McCain here.

Contact your own Congressman here.

MOVIE REVIEW: 2016 -- Obama's America

Sunday, I attended a private screening of 2016: Obama's America.  It will answer most of your unresolved questions about Barack Obama in under two hours.  The film, based on the 2010 bestseller The Roots of Obama's Rage, by Dinesh D'Souza traces Barack Obama's formative years.  D'Souza demonstrates, convincingly, that third-world anticolonialism plays a MAJOR role in Barack Obama's thinking.  This film was fantastic and it needs your support.

Dinesh D'Souza grew up in India in the 1960's, where he was exposed to the same anti-colonial thinking he detects in Barack Obama.  Anti-colonialism is a noxious for of leftism, which asserts wealthy people (and nations) became that way by stealing raw materials from the third world.  Anti-colonialism was promoted heavily by the Soviet Union and remains trendy on college campuses today.  Anti-colonialism is also the core of the liberation theology that was preached by Jeremiah Wright.  Barack Obama wants to enrich formerly colonized countries at the expense of those he deems colonizers; it's not about lifting up the poor, it's about tearing down the rich.

D'Souza convincingly uses the President's own words tie the actions of President Obama to the writings of his father.  Barack Obama Sr was a far-left Kenyan exchange student who abandoned the current President when he was a year old.  For example, Barack Obama Sr was comfortable with 100% tax rates, which he views as a legitimate tool to level the playing field.  In 2008, President Obama's paternal grandmother, Sarah, told Newsweek: "I look at him [then-Senator Obama] and I see all the same things -- he has taken everything from his father....the son in everything the father wanted."  For the record, Obama Sr also spoke favorably of Moscow.

D'Souza illustrates several examples of anticolonial actions in Obama administration policy.  This past April, Barack Obama became the first American president to break with Great Britain over the Falklands.  In 2010, Obama negotiated (and the Senate ratified) an arms-control treaty with Moscow that was a de facto unilateral American disarmament.  Obama's unprecedented debt is, quite frankly, designed to collapse the U.S. economy and level the global playing field.  D'Souza details these, and several other, examples in the film.

I want to echo D'Souza with a personal testimony.  When I was in college, one of my roommates was a black studies major (yeah, I know....).  From reading her coursework, particularly Frantz Fanon, I recognized a big, fat anti-colonial streak in Barack Obama myself.

Conservatives need to support this film.  One of the producers spoke after the screening and he explained that the marketing strategy for the film is to make it too profitable for theater owners to ignore.  Step one is for conservatives to put their money where their mouth is.

2016: Obama's America will answer many, if not all, of your unresolved questions about Barack Obama in under two hours.  Conservatives need to support this film.  Theater information here.

Update: Stacy on the Right has her review here; 2nd post here.

Like Father, Like Son: Rafael Cruz @ #TXFreedomRally

Here' my video of Rafael Cruz, Ted's Father, speaking last Saturday in San Antonio:

I apologize for the poor quality of the video, but you get the picture; the apple OBVIOUSLY doesn't fall far from the tree!!!

Heads are about to Explode in the Texas Legislature

Former Texas Rep.Wayne Christian, the conservative stalwart who got shafted during redistricting, spoke on Saturday in San Antonio.  Having lost his bid for re-election, Former Rep. Christian reveals his plans to raise all sorts of heck in the Texas Legislature.  He also discusses the need to keep God in the Republican Party.

(Author's note: I apologize for the fact that the video is off by 90 degrees)

You can sign up for former Rep. Christian's newsletter here.

Will Engage America Collapse Barack Obama's support?!?

This past Saturday, I saw a presentation by Engage America, a brand new social media company that I believe could help turn this election from a close one into a landslide.  Their idea is brilliant and it deserves all of our help.

The idea is simple: Engage America picks heavily trafficked websites in key states (eg. the Orlando Sentinel, the Cleveland Plain Dealer) and enables its users to engage in fact-based debate in the online comment sections of the relevant media outlets in the relevant states.  This allows people who live in states that are safe for either Obama or Romney to engage with voters outside their locality.  According to Engage America, online comment sections are one of the best ways to influence persuadable voters.

I took the following video of their presentation; I apologize for the fact that the image is off by 90 degrees, but it gets the point across:

This is a FANTASTIC idea; I strongly encourage you to visit Engage America and learn more.

I'd like to close with an appeal to readers: I think Engage America would be a perfect partner organization for American for Prosperity.  If, after using their site, you agree, then I ask you to contact your AFP state chapter and suggest they partner with Engage America.

OFFICIAL ENDORSEMENT: Chisti Craddick for Texas Railroad Commission

There's a down ballot race in the Texas G.O.P. run-off about which I've been meaning to comment for some time.  With early voting scheduled next week, it's now or never.  Cahnman's Musings officially endorses Christi Craddick for Texas Railroad Commission.

In a post-TARP Republican Party, trust is at a premium.  The conservative grassroots has been let down far too many times, by far too many Republicans, to have it any other way.  Unfortunately, Warren Chisum, Christi's opponent, has proven himself someone conservatives cannot trust.

Here's the back story: Warren Chisum is a long-serving member of the Texas House of Representatives.  The current Speaker of the Texas House is Joe Straus, about whom I've written before.  Joe Straus is a typical politician who uses Obama-esque rhetoric.  For those of you unfamiliar with the Texas Constitution, the Speaker of the House has nearly dictatorial powers over that body, meaning the Texas Speaker is crucial to enacting a conservative agenda. Warren Chisum was crucial to Joe Straus' re-election as speaker in the 82nd Texas legislature.

Following the 2010 Tea Party landslide, Warren Chisum ran for Speaker against Straus.  He stayed in the race long enough to tease Conservatives, then mysteriously dropped out and endorsed Straus.  I don't trust anyone who helps Joe Straus stay in power.

I met Christi Craddick two times this year.  Both times, I came away impressed.  In our conversations, she expressed clear understanding of the difference between free enterprise and crony capitalism.  She understands that Texas' energy industry doesn't need subsidies, it merely needs the EPA to get out of the way.  I don't know much about Christi Craddick, but I know she's never helped Joe Straus get re-elected.

For those of you who have never heard of the Texas Railroad Commission, it's the state entity that regulates energy development in Texas.

Trust is a crucial issue in primary elections.  I don't trust Warren Chisum.  Christi Craddick has yet to let me down; in the July 31st run-off (early voting July 23-27), Cahnman's Musings officially endorses CHRISTI CRADDICK FOR TEXAS RAILROAD COMMISSION.

CD-25 Runoff: Roger Williams -- Economically Illiterate Liar

About a week ago, I received information from U.S. Congressional candidate Wes Riddle's campaign about opponent Roger Williams.  Because the information I received came from a rival campaign, I refrained from publishing it until I could do my own homework.  Having now done so, I can confirm that Roger Williams lobbied Congress for the first auto bailout under George W. Bush, then lied about doing so.

(Author's note: The CD-25 runoff is happening alongside the U.S. Senate runoff between Ted Cruz and David Dewhurst.  Cruz/Dewhurst is the first race on the ballot.  The Riddle/Williams race is Second)

Roger Williams, the current congressional candidate, is also the namesake for Roger Williams Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep.  On November 18, 2008, as reported by the Associated Press at the time, Roger Williams' wife Patty, president of Roger Williams Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge-Jeep, personally lobbied the U.S. Congress in favor of the first auto bailout.  On March 27, 2009 Patty Williams rationalized her actions in a guest column in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
Yes, my business, Chrysler and the entire auto industry face significant challenges as this country works to unfreeze credit and moves through a deep recession.
Yes, the company needs bridge loans to successfully respond to these severe economic conditions and has turned to the federal government as a lender of last resort.
Chrysler has a sound viability plan to not only get it through these difficult times, but position the business to be an industry leader.  Chrysler's survival represents good news for auto dealers, consumers, American workers, and suppliers.
With all due respect to Mrs. Williams, this is self-serving, economically-illiterate, bull crap.  It is NOT 'this country's' (ie. Washington D.C.) responsibility to 'unfreeze credit' or act as a 'lender of last resort'.  Free enterprise relies upon a principle called creative destruction.  This means that if a company isn't viable, it should shut down and allow a better company to replace it.  America's failure to live by our values of creative destruction and free enterprise in 2008 is a major reason we're in the mess we're in today.

But it gets worse.  At a candidate forum in Hays County, Roger Williams was asked to detail a time he stood on principle against personal interest.  At the time, he said:
I came out early against TARP and against the auto bailouts....I said from day 1 you cannot bail businesses out. They need to take normal bankruptcies.  And I was attacked pretty hard by that, by my industry and a lot of people that were around me.
As detailed above, this claim is a bald faced lie.  If Roger Williams had admitted to making a mistake and told us the lessons he'd learned, he might have a case.  Instead of repenting of his wicked ways, unfortunately, Roger Williams is covering them up.

The Roger Williams campaign failed to respond to request for comment.  The phone number listed on the campaign website doesn't reach the campaign.  This statement on the Williams website contains hollow rhetorical bluster, but fails to address the specifics of the allegation.

Roger Williams claims he's running for Congress to 'stop Obama's socialist policies.'  Unfortunately, Barack Obama's socialist policies since 2009 are the direct result of George W. Bush's quasi-Socialist policies in late 2008.  When tested, Roger Williams failed to live by conservative values.  Roger Williams took the path of least resistance.  That's why, if you live in CD-25 and you intend to vote for Ted Cruz, you should vote for Wes Riddle while you're at it.

Update: Apparently, Roger Williams has a less than stellar commitment to the Second Amendment as well.

#BeloDebate: Rare praise for the Legacy Media

Conservative bloggers are often critical of the media, with good reason.  That's why it's important to give the media credit on those rare occasions when it's due.  Last night's Texas U.S. Senate debate was one of those rare occasions.

The debate, hosted by WFAA in Dallas, actually allowed the candidates to mix it up with each other, instead of the stale media-driven Q and A of most televised debates.

Substantively, the debate was a rout for Ted Cruz, but that rout was enabled by the moderator and questioner relinquishing the spotlight; David Dewhurst self-destructed on his record.

My only small complaint is that the section on border security focused too heavily on fencing.  While fencing is an important component, it's secondary to boots on the ground.  Still, that quibble is minor compared everything they did right.

It's rare that I say this, but well done legacy media.

Obama supporter berates pro-life Woman yesterday in Austin

Yesterday, Barack Obama visited Austin, TX; several dozen Patriots, representing local Tea Party and Pro-Life groups, showed up to protest the President's visit.

The event, which was planned on short notice, was looking like a bust (it also rained yesterday) when the following interaction happened between an Obama supporting local resident and Ashley, a volunteer with Austin Coalition for Life.

Full Disclosure: This video picks up 60 to 90 seconds after the interaction began, which was the first time I thought the guy might be dangerous; if anyone wants to challenge the accuracy or context of this video, we can produce multiple witnesses.

The more times I watch this video, the sadder I find it.  Like many leftists, this guy is spiritually broken and empty, which is obviously the real source of his anger.  Unfortunately, because people like him are tearing down our culture, we must expose them.

Mediterranean Update Tuesday: Who Controls the Suez?!?

I've written before about how the media fails to cross reference the Bible when covering events in the Mediterranean.  Today, I want to touch on a geopolitical aspect that drives me insane about the coverage.  Considering the ongoing chaos in Egypt, no one ever talks about the Suez canal.

What exactly is the Suez canal?!?

The Suez canal is a 120 mile man-made structure from the mouth of the Red Sea at Suez (duh!) to the Mediterranean port of Said.  This canal allows ships to take a short cut instead of traveling around the entire continent of Africa, which takes an extra two weeks.  In 2010, the canal earned $4.8 billion.  It is a crucial piece of Global Shipping Infrastructure.  Whoever controls it has tremendous leverage over the Global Economy.

In 1956, the Soviet-backed Egyptian government of Gamal Abdul Nasser nationalized confiscated the Suez from its British owners.  This led to a war.  After President Eisenhower betrayed Great Britain, control of the Suez reverted to Egypt.

Given that control of the Suez has already provoked a war, it's worth considering who controls it now.  As Dr. Tawfik Hamid explains:
allowing an Islamic regime to have control over the Suez Canal will give a global Islamic movement such as the [Muslim Brotherhood] more ability to manipulate world trade and politics, as well as have undue influence on U.S. actions, such as Navy ships transiting between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.
Given that Muslim Brotherhood clerics have already called for the Canal to be shut, and given that the Muslim Brotherhood controls Egypt, this obviously isn't an idle threat.

At a minimum, control of the Suez gives Egypt's new Islamist government an opportunity to demand Jizya.  This is bad enough, considering that Islamic demands for Jizya was the cause of America's first foreign war.  Making matters worse, Iranian ships have passed through the Suez in the past year, for the first time since 1979.  Given Iran's recent history in the straits of Hormuz, any collaboration between the Jihadists in Cairo and Tehran regarding sensitive economic infrastructure is extremely worrisome.  Unfortunately, the media never covers this aspect of the crisis.

The media has misunderstood what's happening in Egypt since the crisis began last year.  First, they fell for the bull-crap notion that last year's Tahrir Square uprising was an outpouring of democracy.  Next, they missed the boat on the Muslim Brotherhood.  Given this dreadful track record, it's not surprising they've missed the Suez canal angle.  Considering the geopolitical importance of the canal, whose control has lead to wars in the past, this is tragic.

An Open Letter to Fellow Tea Partiers

My Fellow Patriots,

The Supreme Court screwed us.  Barack Obama's health insurance protection racket remains the law of the land.  It is in that spirit in which I write.

The United States' House of Representatives has done what we needed and voted (again) to dismantle Obama's health insurance protection racket.  Once again, the action shifts to the United States' Senate.  Once again, Harry Reid is obstructing a vote.

Well, I say fuck that, and fuck Harry Reid.

There is a federal election in less than four months.  The American people DESERVE to know where our Congress stands after the Supreme Court ruling, and we deserve to know BEFORE we vote.  The House has done that, now the United States Senate must follow suit.  There are 23 United States Senate seats up this November whose current occupant voted for Obama's health insurance protection racket.  Have any of them changed their mind?!?

In August 2009, we made our opposition to Obama's health insurance protection racket clear; we need to do it again.  This time, we need to focus on individual United States Senators and DEMAND a clean repeal vote before the election.  When they hide from us, which they will, we need to show up at their home offices anyway.  With commitment and Divine Blessing, August 2012 can make August 2009 look like child's play.  If we do our job in August, we just might get a vote in September.

The substance of Obama's health insurance racket hasn't changed.  It's still the largest tax hike in human history.  It still rations health care.  It still forces America's churches into de facto fundraising arms of Planned Parenthood.  And the American people still LOATHE this law.

The path to victory is obvious; we just have to take it.  The next step is forcing the United States Senate to vote on full repeal before the election.  Sign the petition here.

Sincerely,
Adam Cahn
Austin, TX
July 14, 2012

P.S. I don't care about personal credit.  I'm not the only one planning to reprise August 2009.  I do, however, ask to AGGRESSIVELY put out the petition on Facebook and Twitter

Sexual Brokenness Maquerading as Sexual Freedom

I've written about alleged Sexual Freedom and the Perils of Sexual Self-Identification before.  On that note, I just found this EXCELLENT commentary.  Enjoy:

Adrian Murray: Obama's Health Insurance Protection Racket

Adrian Murray, 9/12 leader and author of Common Ground America, posted this commentary about the Federal Health Care Law.  Some highlights:
No One believes Obama wrote all 2700 pages and calling it Obamacare makes it about personality instead of principle
Surely no one seriously believes President Obama wrote the 2,700 page bill or, for that matter, even knows what is in it.  Yet the act is commonly labeled President Obama’s signature piece of legislation, the crowning achievement of his first term....One could make a lot of arguments, but calling the Affordable Care Act “Obamacare” is a huge tactical error.  Why?  Because naming the law after Obama personalizes it and, as Romney learned from the NAACP audience, opposing Obamacare equals opposing Obama and the only reason anyone opposes Obama is, of course, because he is black.  To those inclined to think as such, opposing the complete government takeover of the healthcare system and changing the status of Americans from private citizens to property of the state is, quite simply, racist.
The law commonly known as 'Obamacare' is actually a backdoor bailout of the insurance companies:
The insurance lobby, tired of decades of failed attempts to influence Congress to create a national health care plan which would immunize them from the looming trillions of dollars in liabilities they faced as the boomer generation aged, simply decided they would infiltrate Congress instead and write the legislation themselves.  Time, after all, was running out....Despite Big Insurance’s success in pulling off one of the most intricate swindles in the history of mankind by transferring tens of trillions of dollars of liabilities from their balance sheets to that of the Treasury Department, all to be paid for by massive tax increases on the American people (or fees, if you’re still arguing about the Commerce Clause in the increasingly irrelevant Constitution), the whole transaction would certainly deserve a special place in the pantheon  of lawlessness were it not for the decidedly unhappy outcome it will have for the true victims of this crime – the American citizens, who are now merely the property of an insurance industry that has a vested interest in keeping them healthy while they are still useful.  Those 22 year-olds who are today gleeful that they can stay on Mommy and Daddy’s insurance for a few more years won’t be quite as cheerful in 2030 when they are called before a panel Liz Fowler will undoubtedly have had a role in creating to explain why their cholesterol level has increased or are informed that certain substances detected in their last blood test indicated they are surpassing the monthly limit on pepperoni pizzas.  After being sent home with a hefty fine and orders to adhere to a strict diet of carrot sticks and mineral water, along with the latest behavioral modification drug developed by the recent merger of Pfizer and Merck, they may well wish they had been paying attention back in 2012, when there was still a chance to put a stop to it all.
Adrian closes with this plea:
In the meanwhile, it would be nice if certain political figures would put a stop to feigning political courage by mockingly referring to this legislation as Obamacare.  Obama didn’t write it or read it and there is nothing caring about it.  Call it what it is:  The Health Insurance Industry Protection Act.
This is an excellent point.  Americans hate this law because it raises taxes to ration health care not because Barack Obama signed it into law.  Personalizing this against Barack Obama allows the media to portray us as motivated by sour grapes instead of the corrupt substance of this law.

Having accepted Adrian's general premise, however, I want to quibble with one point of emphasis.  I think Adrian underestimates Obama's personal involvement in seeing this thing through to completion.  Thus, I think it's appropriate to focus on the corrupt substance of this law while still tying it directly to Obama.

Thus, I propose a compromise.  Let's call this law OBAMA'S Health Insurance Protection Racket.  Perhaps Adrian Murray and I can strike a blow for Common Ground....

Reviewing Obama's Record

Last night, I got into a conversation on Facebook about the election.  In the discussion, I listed all the elements of Barack Obama's record that he has to defend.  Looking over it, it's incredible how much Barack Obama has to defend.

Feel free to keep this post in your back pocket.  Anytime you need to refer back to Barack Obama's record, it'll be here.

Under Barack Obama, we've:

On the other hand, Obama DID stay out of the Navy Seals' way long enough for them to kill bin Laden, after he made them write a memo covering HIS ass if the mission went bad.

This is the record Obama has to defend.  Feel free to refer back to this as you need over the coming months.

In the meantime, PLEASE share this on FB and Twitter.

Update: Feel free to list anything I missed in the comments.

Obama cooks the Books at Government Motors with our Money

This report from the National Legal and Policy Center looks at the performance of GM heading into the homestretch of the 2012 Presidential Election.  The biggest takeaway:
We now learn that government purchases of GM vehicles rose a whopping 79% in June.
In other words, the government is using taxpayer dollars to buy cars from itself; that's called money laundering.

G.M.'s defense that a "majority of government sales increases were attributed to state and local government" doesn't hold water considering how much state and local money comes from Washington with strings attached; frankly, it's another form of money laundering.

Also, GM's claim that government sales are less than 5% is one I just don't believe.

Someone's gonna end up in prison over this; I have faith.

TPPF Report Exposes Foundational Lie of Obamanomics

What would you say if I told you that a central premise of both Barack Obama's economic policy and the Occupy 'movement' was a conscious lie.  OK, so Barack Obama lying isn't exactly news, but this new report from the Laffer Center at the Texas Public Policy Foundation exposes the intellectual corruption at the heart of leftist economics.  Bottom Line: Income Inequality is a left wing hoax on par with Global Warming or Police Brutality.

In 2009, Barack Obama's First Budget made the following claim about Income Inequality:
For the better part of three decades, a disproportionate share of the Nation's wealth has been accumulated by the very wealthy. [Yet] instead of using the tax code to lessen these increasing wage disparities, changes in the tax code over the past eight years exacerbated them....By 2004, the wealthiest 10 percent of households held 70 percent of total wealth, and the combined net worth of the top 1 percent took home more than 22 percent of total national income, up from 10 percent in 1980. (9)
As the TPPF report details, Barack Obama's budget (and various Occupy mouthpieces) based their economic assumptions on this 2003 Paper by Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez.  The problem is that Piketty and Saez are either lying or they committed a mistake that's so amateur it demolishes their credibility.

The short version (*) of Piketty and Saez follows: during the (relatively) low-tax 1920's, the top 1% captured 18% of national income.  During the high-tax 1930's to 1970's, the top 1% took in 8% of national income.  Since the 1980's and the return of a (relatively) low-tax environment, that percentage returned to 17%.

Here's the problem: Piketty and Saez measure wage income, NOT total compensation.  As income taxes rise, wealthy people shift their compensation from taxable income to tax-free benefits such as Health Care and Country Club Membership.  As income taxes fall, wealthy people simply shift their compensation from benefits to income.  This is tax avoidance 101 type stuff.  Once you measure total compensation instead of income, the total held by the top 1% holds remarkably steady over time.

Unfortunately, while confiscatory taxation does little to alter so-called economic inequality, it is devastating to the economic growth necessary for the poor and middle class to get ahead on their own.  As the report, taking Piketty and Saez at face value, states:
To look at this 'stagflation" era [the 1970's], as it was derisively known at the time by those who experienced it, and top point out that income inequality was held at a low level [even though it wasn't] misses something essential.  Perhaps, in this long decade of minimal growth, the eating away of savings by inflation, the effective capital-gains tax rate often over 100% and the chronic joblessness -- the top tenth did take home a third of all national income, as opposed to 45% [even though they didn't], and the top hundredth of one percent did only make 50 times average, as opposed to 400 [even though they didn't].  But it was a miserable time to be a little guy, to try and get by, let alone strive to get ahead. (11)
Redistributive policies screw the little guy worst.

This report does an excellent job demonstrative that while confiscatory taxation does nothing to alter so-called inequality, it devastates the economic growth necessary for the poor and middle class to get ahead on their own.  In addition, the report provides a concise history of the first fifty years of the income tax that I found indispensable.  My only mild criticism is that I would prefer to have the central conclusions stated in bullet form at the beginning of the report, but that's a minor quibble.  This report exposes the intellectual corruption at the heart of Obamanomics and the Occupy 'movement.'  Bottom line: Income Inequality is a left-wing hoax on par with Global Warming and Police Brutality.

* I linked to the original paper for a reason; this paragraph is intended as a quick summary.

Update: The Communications director at TPPF writes to inform me that this report was done by the Laffer Center, NOT TPPF;  I have update this post.

Demand the U.S. Senate Vote on Obamacare Repeal

The House just voted again to repeal Obamacare, following the Supreme Court decision.    It's mostly symbolic, but I'll take it.

Now, however, the fight moves to the United States Senate, and they MUST vote.

There are 33 United States Senate seats up for election this fall.  Of these, 23 are currently held by Senators who voted for Obamacare.  We NEED a vote in the United States Senate on repealing this legislation BEFORE November's election.

The American people still loathe this legislation, and we deserve to know where our Senators stand following the Supreme Court decision; and we deserve it BEFORE going to the polls.

Mediterranean Update Tuesday: Corrupt U.S. Media Covers-Up Islamist takeover in Libya

What would you call a pro-Sharia political party who cut a deal with the Islamists before the election?!? If you're the corrupt American media and you need to cover for Barack Obama's catastrophic foreign policy, you call them pro-Western.  This is laughable, the political party currently leading in Libya is nothing of the sort.

Yesterday, I posted this Breitbart piece on Libya on Facebook.  One of my lefty friends from college challenged the accuracy of the piece.  I'm grateful to him for issuing the challenge, because in exploring how the MSM has covered this event, I found a textbook example of media corruption.

The leading party in Libya is called the National Forces Alliance.  They describe themselves as moderate Islamists who support Sharia as the main source of legislation with 'protection for minority rights'.  Of course, there's no such thing as a moderate Islamist.  At best, 'protection for minority rights' under Sharia means dhimmitude. For the record, Ayatollah Khomeini said the same thing in 1979.

This is a farce. As Daniel Greenfield explains:
The [Muslim] Brotherhood needs Jibril [the NFA candidate] out front to reassure foreign investors. In Egypt, the Brotherhood had front men like Khairat El-Shater, who could sell the Brotherhood as a friendly capitalist venture, but in Libya, Abdul Hakim Belhadj of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, with ties to Al-Qaeda, heading up the Al-Watan Party is a much less reassuring figure even for the most useful of useful idiots. Suleiman Abdelkader of the Justice and Construction Party is hardly any more reassuring, even to those journalists who see moderate Islamists under every Jihad.
Barack Obama also needs a faux 'moderate' to take power in country launched an unconstitutional war against last year.  He can't have another Egypt.

So, how did the U.S. Media cover this event?!?

Again, this is a pro-Sharia party who has already cut a deal with the Islamists.

Classic.

Update: It's not just the liberal media either.  The establishment Conservative media has it's head up its keister as well.  This act of wishful thinking appeared in the Wall St Journal Today.
